1945 – Kenney & Ross is Founded
Two local entrepreneurs, Job Kenney and Reginald Ross, establish Kenney & Ross Limited in Nova Scotia. The company focuses on marine by-products, producing cod liver oil, pet food, and fish gelatin.
Early 1960s – Rise of Fish Gelatin
K&R is approached by Robert Norland (NJ, USA) to produce technical-grade fish gelatin for color television manufacturing. The product becomes the standard in the US and Europe.
1970s – Expansion into Electronics & Lab Applications
Technological advances lead to new uses for K&R’s gelatin in:
Laboratory test reagents, Copper foil manufacturing (for PCBs), Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production
1990 – Kosher Pharmaceutical Grade Launched
K&R begins producing kosher, pharmaceutical-grade fish gelatin for a global vitamin company, becoming their exclusive supplier for over 20 years.
2000s – Hydrolyzed Fish Collagen
The company launches hydrolyzed fish collagen, gaining international traction. K&R becomes one of the few global companies producing only marine gelatin and collagen, ensuring:

2004- Exporter of the Year Award
Kenney & Ross was honoured with Nova Scotia’s Exporter of the Year Award, recognizing our commitment to international trade and ability to deliver high-quality marine products to global markets.
2012 Export Achievement Award
Kenney & Ross received the Export Achievement Award, celebrating continued growth in global exports and excellence in international customer satisfaction and product consistency.
2015 – Acquisition by Ajinomoto Trading Co., Inc.
Kenney & Ross becomes part of Ajinomoto Trading Co., Inc., growing into a global manufacturer of food and pharmaceutical-grade gelatin and collagen, known for consistency and quality.
