Your Role
As Chief Boiler Operator, you will lead day-to-day boiler operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide a small team of engineers. You will be responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and assisting in system upgrades—all while maintaining a safe and professional work environment.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Oversee daily boiler room operations and personnel
Perform routine maintenance on boilers, steam lines, and related equipment
Assist with installation and upgrades of boiler systems
Ensure compliance with Nova Scotia Steam Regulations
Provide hands-on mentorship to junior Power Engineers
Maintain detailed logs and perform administrative tasks as needed
Respond to system issues and participate in on-call scheduling
Qualifications
2nd or 3rd Class Power Engineer Certification
Minimum 3 years of experience in a Chief Boiler Operator role
Experience operating 400+ HP boilers and auxiliary equipment
Familiarity with #2 Oil Fuel Burners
Strong independent work ethic and problem-solving skills
Valid driver’s license required
